ECO Level 1 (Echocardiography & Clinical Ultrasound Online)

The ECO Level 1 is made up of four subjects.

  • Subject 1 – Principles of Ultrasound and iHeartScan
  • Subject 2 – Ultrasound Guided Procedures
  • Subject 3 – Doppler Echocardiography
  • Subject 4 – Ventricular Function

Each subject has the same study and examination commitment.

The course instruction builds upon previous knowledge so it is best to complete the subjects in order. For the ECO Level 1 certification, all subjects ECO 1 – 4 need to be completed and satisfactorily passed.

Course Requirements

This course is open to medical and non-medical students. A tertiary degree is a requirement, but special consideration will be made for a student nearing the end of their medical or paramedical degree studies.

This online course provides a structured educational ultrasound program with self-assessments to reinforce the learning experience. Upon receipt of payment, the student will receive a “Getting Started” email with instructions on how to access the course materials.

Students have the flexibility to study in their own time and location. Program materials can be accessed through the iTeachU app on smartphones and tablets with iOS, Android or Windows systems. Once the program materials have been downloaded on smartphones and tablets, all the interactive media content can be viewed even when offline (however internet access is required periodically to login or re-verify login credentials).  Program materials can also be accessed online using a web browser.

Students will be notified four weeks prior to an examination period and can nominate a subject for that period. Multiple subject examinations can be completed in the one period, as long as all self-assessments have been completed.

The self-assessments and examinations are completed via a web-based system. For self-assessment questions, once completed, the screen will refresh with the answers and explanations.
